Flavorful and crispy on the outside and moist and tender on the inside, these Air Fryer Pork Chops are a quick and easy dinner option. Thick center cut bone in pork chops are dredged in flour, covered in an egg wash, and topped with a delicious bread crumb parmesan coating. You’ll never have to eat a dry flavorful pork chop again if you use this recipe!
Why this recipe works:
- Moist and flavorful: Pork chops can easily get tough and dry, depending on the cooking method. Air fried pork chops are juicy and tender. The crispy coating tastes amazing too.
- Quick and easy: The prep work only takes a few minutes and the pork chops take about 20 minutes to cook. If you’re looking for an easy weekday dinner option, this is a great choice!
- Recipe can be doubled: If your air fryer basket is big enough, this recipe is easily doubled or tripled if you’re feeding a crowd.
- Less oil than frying: Same crispy outside, but less oil is used. That’s the beauty of air fryer cooking.
Ingredients used for this recipe:
- Pork chops: I used one inch thick center cut bone-in pork chops.
- All-purpose flour: This is used to coat the pork chops before the egg wash.
- Egg: One large is is all you need to coat the chops to get the crumbs to stick.
- Parmesan cheese: The finer it is grated, the better it will stick. I recommend using a microplane.
- Bread crumbs: I love the crunch of panko bread crumbs, but you can use any kind.
- Italian Seasoning and Garlic Powder: Added to the bread crumb and parmesan coating.
- Olive oil spray: Just a small amount is needed to coat the outside.
How to make Air Fryer Pork Chops:
- Salt and pepper: Add a generous amount to both sides of the chops.
- Coat in flour: Add the flour to a flat bottomed container and press each side of the pork chop to coat. Shake off any excess.
- Egg wash: Cover all sides of the flour coated pork chop in the beaten egg. Shake off any excess.
- Crumb coating: Combine the bread crumbs, parmesan, garlic and Italian seasonings in a flat bottomed dish. Gently press the egg covered pork chop into the crumb mixture.
- Arrange in air fryer basket: Always place ingredients in a single layer to allow air to circulate.
- Spray with olive oil: Cover the tops with olive oil spray. Cook for ten minutes, turn, and spray the other side before you finish cooking. Check internal temperature with a thermometer to ensure they are done.
Note: The model of air fryer I used for this recipe was the Breville Smart Oven. Although each model air fryer cooking in a similar manner, basket sizes and cooking times may vary greatly from model to model.
Cooking tips for best results:
- Pork chop temperature: I always like to set my meat out at room temperature for at least 30 minutes prior to cooking. Cooking a cold pork chop may result in an underdone center and and overly cooked outside.
- Cooking time: Total time needed to make air fryer pork chops will depending on your air fryer as well as how thick and cold the pork chops are. Ideally, they are done when they are golden brown and crispy on the outside, but you’ll want the internal temperature to read at least 140°F when you remove them so that they can rise to 145°F while they rest.
- Leftover ideas: Any time I make pork chops for dinner, I make extra so that I can use the leftovers to make pork fried rice!

Equipment
Ingredients
- 2 pork chops center cut, bone in, 1" thick
- salt and pepper
- 1/4 cup all purpose flour
- 1 large egg slightly beaten
- 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs
- 1/2 cup parmesan cheese finely grated from a block
- 1 Tablespoon Italian seasoning
- 1 Tablespoon garlic powder
- olive oil spray
Instructions
- Prior to cooking, take pork chops out of the refrigerator for about a half hour. Preheat air fryer to 400°F. Add salt and pepper to both sides of pork chops.
- Using three flat bottomed containers, add flour to one, beaten egg to another, and parmesan, bread crumbs, and seasonings to the third.
- Dredge both sides of each pork chop in the flour. Then coat in egg and allow any excess to drip off. Finally, coat both sides of pork chops in the crumb mixture and set in air fryer basket.
- Spray the tops of the coated pork chops with olive oil. Cook in preheated air fryer for 10 minutes. Flip, spray tops with olive oil, and continue cooking for another 10 minutes. Cooking times may vary depending on the thickness of the chops as well as how cold they were, but mine took exactly 20 minutes. They are done with the coating begins to turn golden brown and the internal temperature reads at least 140°F. Allow pork chops to rest at least five minutes before slicing. Temperature will continue to rise during rest period.
