If you’re looking for a show-stopping summer drink to serve a group, this Strawberry Basil Tequila Punch is it. It’s refreshing, a little bubbly, perfectly balanced between sweet and tart, and packed with fresh strawberries, lime, and basil. Oh, and tequila. Don’t forget the tequila.
Whether you’re hosting a backyard BBQ, a laid-back patio happy hour, or just having friends over to beat the heat, this punch bowl cocktail delivers every time.

Why This Punch Is Perfect for Summer Gatherings
I’ve made this one more than a few times for casual get-togethers and everyone always asks for the recipe. It’s the kind of drink that looks beautiful, tastes even better, and can be made ahead in a big batch.
Even if your party is just you and a few close friends playing cards on the deck, this punch feels festive without the fuss.
You don’t need a bartender or any fancy equipment. Just pour, stir, and serve over ice.
What Makes It So Good
Let’s break down what makes this strawberry tequila punch irresistible:
- Silver Tequila: Smooth and bright, it brings just the right amount of kick.
- Honey-Orange Syrup: A quick infusion of orange peel into honey water adds depth and citrusy warmth without using sugar. I use simple syrup all the time, but this is a nice change.
- Strawberries & Basil: Summer’s most iconic duo. Sweet, tart, and fresh – they’re the heart of this punch. If you love this flavor combo, you’ll probably also love my Strawberry Basil Vinaigrette.
- Fresh Lime Juice: Adds a clean, acidic contrast to balance all the flavors.
- Ginger Ale: Adds bubbles and a hint of spice that ties everything together.
How to Make Strawberry Basil Tequila Punch
This recipe makes about 16 servings and can easily be scaled up or down.
- Infuse the honey syrup: Combine honey and orange peel in a bowl. Pour over boiling water, stir to dissolve, and let cool to room temp.
- Macerate the fruit and herbs: In a large bowl, smash strawberries and chopped basil together to release their flavors.
- Mix the punch: In a large pitcher or punch bowl, combine the cooled honey mixture (including the orange peel), macerated berries and basil, lime juice, silver tequila, and ginger ale.
- Serve over ice: Use large cubes or fun-shaped ice for a party-worthy presentation.
Make It Ahead
You can mix everything except the ginger ale a few hours ahead of time and store it in the fridge.
Add the bubbles just before serving to keep it fizzy and fresh.
