There is nothing better than enjoying an ice cold glass of easy-to-make classic homemade Fresh Squeezed Lemonade on a gorgeous warm day.

A glass of lemonade with a yellow straw

Nothing crazy weird here. This, my friends, is just a basic fresh squeezed lemonade. I would like to believe that everyone already knows how to make it and are looking at this post wondering why I bothered, but I’ve come to find out that there are a lot of people out there who don’t make their own freshly squeezed lemonade. They either buy it in a bottle, make it from concentrate, or *gasp* mix it up from a powder. Don’t get me wrong – when I was a kid I thought Country Time Lemonade was the best thing on the planet. Now, there’s no way you’d ever catch me drinking that stuff.

The trick to a really good lemonade, as with most sweetened drinks, is to use simple syrup. I’m sure you can buy simple syrup but its a cinch to make and it keeps for quite awhile when stored in an airtight container in your refrigerator. All you do is combine equal parts of sugar and water in a pan and heat just until the sugar has fully dissolved. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

Now, feel free to follow my recipe or change it up to satisfy your preferences. I prefer a rather tart lemonade. I want my cheeks to pucker just a wee bit. But if you like it sweeter, just add more simple syrup. In my younger years I used to just mix lemon juice with sugar and water but the sugar would never fully dissolve. As a kid, this was fantastic because I could suck up the gritty sugar with my straw. As a sophisticated adult, however, I enjoy my lemonade to be 100% liquid.
