Crispy air fryer Brussels sprouts with bacon, made with just two ingredients and no oil. The bacon gets a head start so the sprouts and bacon finish at the same time.
Lay the 1 pound bacon in the air fryer basket in a single layer. A little overlap is okay.
Cook on 360 degrees F for 15 minutes, shaking the basket or turning the bacon halfway through. The goal is to only partially cook the bacon.
Remove the bacon and chop it into bite-sized pieces. Carefully pour off the excess grease from the air fryer.
For the Brussels sprouts
While the bacon is cooking, trim the 2 pounds Brussels sprouts by giving the bottoms a fresh cut, then slice them in half lengthwise. Place them in a large bowl.
Add the chopped bacon to the Brussels sprouts and toss. Spread them in the air fryer basket in a thin layer. In a smaller air fryer, cook them in two batches.
Cook on 400 degrees F for 20 minutes, shaking the basket every 5 minutes, until the bacon is fully cooked and the Brussels sprouts are golden brown. Serve hot.
Notes
About the bacon:
I highly recommend using bacon ends and pieces. Just thinly slice any chunks. It's usually the same quality bacon but at less of a cost.
Uncured bacon often cooks quicker than cured bacon. Just keep an eye on it while it's cooking to prevent burning.
About the brussels sprouts:
If you like them really crispy, pull the outer leaves off when you trim them but be sure to cook them up. The single leaves get completely crisp and are a nice addition.
Because the bacon is salty, I didn't add any salt to the brussels sprouts.
About the air fryer:
I find that they all cook a little bit differently depending on the size and shape of the fry basket.
Always check on your food to prevent burning and don't hesitate to give it a good shake.
Storing and reheating:
Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container within 2 hours of cooking and eat them within 3 to 4 days.
Reheat in the air fryer or on a baking sheet in a 400 degree F oven until hot all the way through (165 degrees F).
