Course: Side Dish
Cuisine: American
Servings: 4 servings
- 12 ounces asparagus fresh, ends trimmed
- 1 Tablespoon olive oil
- 1/4 teaspoon salt kosher or flaked (use less if sensitive to salt)
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper freshly ground
- 2 Tablespoons parmesan cheese freshly grated from a block with a microplane works best
Preheat air fryer to 400°F.
Coat asparagus in olive oil with salt and pepper. After fully coated, shake off any excess and lay in a single layer in your air fryer basket. Cover with a thin layer of grated parmesan cheese.
Air fry at 400°F for 7 minutes. No need to turn or flip if they were able to fit in a single layer. Serve immediately.
Serving size might be considered small if you love asparagus. Consider doubling the recipe if you're looking for larger portions.
- Asparagus preparation: In addition to trimming the ends, I've also found that peeling the bottom half of each stalk, if they are particularly woody, creates a more tender bite of asparagus.
- Grated parmesan: Pre-shredded parmesan will not stick to the asparagus. It is highly recommended you grate it from a block.
- Cooking time varies: Depending on the thickness of the stalks, air fryer asparagus will take about 7 minutes to cook. Be sure to check doneness and extend or decrease cooking time, as needed.
