Course: Main Course
Servings: 2 crusts

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all purpose or bread flour
  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water 110 degrees F
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil plus 2 additional teaspoons

Instructions

  • In bowl of stand mixer, combine flour, yeast, sugar and salt. Attach dough hook and mix on low speed.
  • While mixing, slowly pour in warm water and 2 tablespoons olive oil. Mix on low until well combined, then turn speed to medium and mix for 5 minutes.
  • Dough should not stick to sides but it will stick to the bottom. If it is sticking to the sides, add flour 1 tablespoon at a time. If it is too dry, add warm water, 1 tablespoon at a time.
  • Transfer dough to floured surface, wipe bowl clean, drizzle with 2 teaspoons olive oil, return dough to bowl, cover tightly with plastic wrap, and allow to rise 1 hour in warm room.
  • If making pizza, cut risen dough into two pieces. Roll out on lightly floured surface to desired thickness. Cover loosely with plastic wrap and allow to rest for 10 minutes before cooking.
